Mothers Day Gift Ideas

Mothers day is coming up this Sunday and obviously this is a time to treat your mum! If you're stuck on what to get your mum, I've got a few ideas for you. Most of these are based on not spending a crazy amount of money but still being very thoughtful.

Cosmetics
A woman always needs some cosmetics. Boots are giving out vouchers at the moment (after you spend in store) where you get £5 off no7 skincare and £3 off no7 make up - so you could always go to Boots buy some essentials for yourself and get those vouchers in the process.

I personally like to get my mum some hand cream, a lip gloss and maybe some nail varnish. A combination of three small items makes a great present! Boots has a great variety of skincare and beauty products so you will be able to definitely find something in there. Around this time, they also do some great details so look out for them as well.

Flowers and Chocolates
Every woman loves flowers and chocolates. This is an easy present but definitely a guaranteed success. Buy your mum a lovely bunch of flowers, some chocolates she loves and a cute card and you're guaranteed to be daughter of the year.

Bath bombs & Smellies
Who doesn't love a relaxing bath after a stressful day? Lush is a great place to pick up the nicest smelling bath bombs but not only that, it has a great selection of shower gels, soaps and everything you need for a shower/bath and they all smell AMAZING!

Pandora
A slightly more expensive present but Pandora has been a craze for a while now and it's a great gift. If your mum already has a Pandora bracelet why not buy her a charm (I'm pretty sure they're doing special mothers day ones). If not, Pandora do a great selection of rings, which you probably think might be quite expensive, but there are some pretty nice ones for £30-£35, so it's definitely worth having a little browse.

House accesories
I'm pretty sure that every mother loves and takes pride in their house so why not buy them something cute for that? It could be as simple as a candle (Yankee Candles smell SO GOOD) or a diffuser, you can find these in any department stores such as House of Fraser, Debenhams or John Lewis. Other things could include, little ornaments or pictures to make the house look pretty.

Perfume
Again, a more expensive option however a very nice one. Everybody likes to smell good and no matter how many perfumes your mother has, she could always do with some more. Again, department stores are the places to look for those. For cheaper perfumes, it would probably be best to look at the Perfume Shop!

Days out
A present doesn't always have to come in the traditional rapped up form. You could always take your mum out for a meal or book a day at the spa for both of you.

I hope this was a little helpful to anybody who is stuck - that's only a few suggestions, I am sure there is plenty more. Let me know what you're getting your mum this Mothers day :)

Mini Boots haul: the essentials

I ran out of some essentials in the last week so I went to Boots to top up. I like both Boots and Superdrug but I would say I prefer Boots especially because you get triple points on your card every time you shop and they always hand me some vouchers too!

First of all, this is a product I haven't tried before, I decided that I was getting so pale, something had to be done about it, so I invested in St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse.

I chose this particular one because it retails at £4.99 so it's a much cheaper option to some of the other fake tans. Also, I was a bit nervous in applying it because in the past I have had terrible luck with fake tan. However, I found that this applies really well, dries really quickly and doesn't actually go patchy. I found it very useful to get a tanning mitt with it is as well, which I got from Primark for £2.

The next product I purchased was the Rimmel 60 Seconds Rita Ora Nail Polish. I got this nail polish in the colour '203 Lose your lingerie.'

The pictures don't really do the colour justice but it's a really nice baby pink shade and it also has a little shine to it. I applied two coats of this nail varnish and found that this was enough. I've been wearing it for a few days now and so far they're still looking like when I first painted them, which is pretty impressive. They also do a lot of pretty shades in this range, so it's worth checking out.

I also purchased the Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser and this is an item I have purchased a few times now simply because it's really convenient and quick to use and gives great results.

If you haven't already guessed this is a moisturiser which you use in the shower. This product is particularly good for me because I can't always be bothered/don't always have the time to moisturise when I get out of the shower. This is great because you can just apply it in the shower, leave it on for a minute or so and then just wash it off again and whola! you have smooth legs. Another bonus, is that it smells really really nice.

The next product I'm going to tell you about is the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner. It was that time again, to choose a new eyeliner for the next few months and this is the one that I decided on.

They do this eyeliner in thick and thin, depending on which brush you prefer but I chose the thin option. I chose this purely because I like to be very precise with my eyeliner and this gives me the opportunity to add detail. I have only used this eyeliner a few times but so far, I'm loving it. It's really easy to apply, it's also waterproof and it lasts all day. It's also sold at a reasonable price so I think it's great.

Finally, and probably one of the biggest essentials of them all, is the Batiste Dry Shampoo.

I have been using this product for a very long time. I mainly like it so much because I do have a lot of hair and sometimes it's not convenient for me to wash it every day. Applying Batiste just gives it that little bit more freshness. I also like to apply this when my hair loses it's shape or life, applying this dry shampoo gives it that little bit of volume and bounce back.

Hope you guys enjoyed this very mini haul, if you've got any further questions about the products just let me know below.

Favourite items for Spring/Summer 2014

I've been browsing shops, magazines and online for my favourite bits for Spring/Summer. There are so many things that I have found that I love, I thought it would be silly not to share it with you.

Gingham
I've seen in a number of magazine that Gingham is going to be really popular this Spring/Summer season. Heat labelled it as a "Tablecloth check that is the hottest print in town." Here are some Gingham style clothes you can find on the high street.

    Topshop MOTO Gingham Dropwaist Dress
 Topshop Gingham Aline Dress
 Topshop Gingham Check Smock Dress

These three dresses are going to look great in the summer, paired with some sandals and maybe a leather jacket in the evening. The Gingham Aline Dress, in my opinion, can be dressed up with heels for a night out. The other two dresses can be worn in the Spring and easily paired with tights and black boots.

Cheaper than Topshop, the crop-tops are a bargain at just £9.99. They're very versatile and can be paired with shorts, skirts and even jeans. The pencil skirt can be paired with the pink crop-top, or a plain white crop-top or maybe even a plain top if you're going for the casual approaches. All three of these items can be both dressed down for a casual look or dressed up for a night out.

Jelly Shoes
I have wanted a pair of Jelly Shoes for sooooooo long but I've always been a bit worried about how I'm going to style them but this year I am definitely getting a pair.

They can easily be paired with jeans, skirt and shorts! I especially think they would be a really cute holiday shoe. I love the coral ones, I think they would especially great with denim and same with the pastel ones. Both Office and River Island do a lot more colours than I've posted so if you're interested it's worth checking out! They're both at a very reasonable price too.

Bikinis
As the holiday season is coming very close, bikini's have been starting to catch my eye. Every girl needs a few cute bikini's on holiday, so here are my favourites:

I'm really loving the River Island Bikini range this year! These are only a few of my favourites so I would definitely recommend checking them out.

Hope you guys enjoyed looking at some of my favourites. Let me know what you think and what your favourites are for this Spring/Summer season.

EBAY!

Being a poor student I've decided it was time to make some extra money so I've decided to sell some things on eBay. I've put a few items of clothing and also two pairs of shoes on there tonight, it would be great if you guys checked it out.

One of the items I've worn a twice but the rest are brand new and just items that I've bought and they haven't suited me but I didn't return them.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation - The Perfect Spring Foundation

I really like this foundation and it's a really great price so I thought it was worse a blog post.
I first bought the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation last summer and at the time, I found that the colour I had got (true ivory - my usual in Rimmel foundation) was a bit pale for me. However, I started using it again in the winter once I had lost my tan (boo) and have carried on using it since.

The foundation is supposed to match your skin tone and give you a 'traceless coverage'. I would say that this is true. I have found that it blends in with my skin very well and gives my skin a flawless look and also a healthy glow. What's more, you definitely don't get that 'you're wearing foundation' look with it which I really like. It also has a really fresh smell, similar to other Rimmel foundations.

I normally apply one layer of the foundation (one dab), using a real techniques foundation brush (A MUST HAVE!) and also use concealer along with it, under my eyes and to cover any spots. I find that this product lasts all day, in all weather conditions and at the most, I've had to top it up once a day depending on what condition my skin is in ie. if I have any spots or blemishes that need extra coverage. The foundation comes in a range of many skin tones so it's perfect for anybody.

In terms of how quickly the product runs out, I have been using it since November, every day, and it's still going and there is no sign of it running out just yet and another bonus, as I mentioned earlier, you can get it in drugstores for the great price of £6.99. Links below :)

PS. If you have this foundation, let me know what you think of it! Also, let me know if you would like me to review the real techniques brushes or concealer.

Outfit of the day: New Look Top

Yesterday I went shopping and bought a top I literally fell in love with and obviously, today I couldn't wait to wear it so thought I would rave about it to you guys!

My favourite thing about this top is definitely the colour. It's a really nice shade of blue. Secondly, I love the shape of this, it's very summery in the sense that it just flows. The sleeves come just above the elbow and it's not too thin therefore it's great for the Spring. Also, the cutout detail on both sides of the top make it that little bit more interesting. Additionally, it has a keyhole back which adds to the cuteness of it! This top is a really perfect length as well, it's not too long or too short!

I paired the top with some black jeans (black jeans are my favourite thing in the world because they literally go with everything) and black pumps with a golden detail and a bow. The beauty of this top is that it will pretty much go with any bottoms that are black, I would tuck this into a black skater skirt also or some black denim shorts in the summer. If I had a bit more time to plan my outfit, I would definitely add a statement necklace in there too.

Another massive bonus is that this top is only £12.99 and also comes in a variety of different colours such as a baby pink and white. Below is my finished look :)

Topshop Jeans
Topshop Bag
Topshop Coat

Let me know what you think of this outfit/top and how you would wear it :)

American Horror Story

Helllooooo :),

In general, my favourite genre for films is horror and I'm addicted to watching TV series' so I thought I would give this show a go. My housemate had watched it prior to me and told me it was really good but that she was pretty creeped out by it so I was kind of anxious but excited to watch it.

After the first few episodes I became obsessed with it. I really liked it because it had a complex plot with quite a few moral messages behind it and also because even though it was horror, it's very realistic. As I said the plot is quite complex and I had to pay pretty much 100% attention to the programme to completely understand it. Also, I do have to admit I didn't watch it on my own and now I'm about to start the second season I am going to have to watch it on my own and I'm pretty scared but it's just sooooo good, it's worth it.

The first season is set in a house branded 'The Murder House' which contains the ghosts of the people that have died in the house and these people can't leave the premises that they were killed on. Some of the time, you don't know who's a ghost and who's not so it's quite exciting and intense at the same time. There's a few pretty good looking characters as well so that's always a bonus. For example, there's the character of Tate played by Evan Peters and the character of Ben played by Dylan Mcdermott (he's also in Hostages).

Evan Peters (Tate)

Dylan McDermott (Ben)

All in all, I would recommend this series to anybody who's looking for something a bit different and also challenging. If I could give you any tips to watching it then it would definitely be DO NOT WATCH IT NIGHT TIME.

PS. Incase anybody is wondering I watched it on Netflix (US) but I'm sure if you don't have that you can find a link quite easily online. If you do decide to watch, let me know what you think. GOOD LUCK!

Liquid Eyeliner - Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Liner!

Hi :)

Liquid eyeliner is a big part in a lot of our lives and sometimes it's hard to find the right one. I haven't got the steadiest hand so for a long time I found it really hard to find an eyeliner which is easy to work with. This is until I purchased the Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Liner.

I have tried a lot of different liquid eyeliner's in the past and I have always found that firstly, the actual application brush doesn't work for me and it's hard to get the right shape. Secondly, I also found that a lot of liquid eyeliner don't last all day and seem to rub off and all sorts. However, with this eyeliner all my problems were solved.

The fact that the product is shaped as a pen makes it much easier to hold and control when applying. The fine tip (0.4mm) also makes it easier to control how thick or thin you want your eyeliner to be.

Another benefit of this eyeliner is that it lasts ALL day. I have never found a need to top it up even when my day begins it at 8am and ends at 10pm. Finally, I have had this eyeliner for around 6 months  or maybe more and it's still going strong and there is no sign of it running out any time soon.

You can find this product in drugstores, it retails at a price of £5.99, which isn't bad at all considering it lasts a long time! You can also purchase it online and I have provided a link for this below.
