Berlin - Where to Eat?

Good afternoon,

I believe that food is one very important part of the trip after all, a happy tummy is a happy me. If you’re anything like me, I like to pre-plan where we’re going to eat before leaving the hotel otherwise we could be looking for hours. This is exactly what we did in Berlin and every meal was utterly delicious. I discovered most of these places by doing a little bit of research on Instagram as we all know it is full of great food pics.

SPREEGOLD

This is the first place we went on our stay for a lunch and it was right near the Alexanderplatz area. The place was very busy so it did take a while to get our food but it was totally worth it. Me and my boyfriend both ordered an omelette. This was made of five eggs, chicken, bacon and avocado. All these ingredients sat on top of the omelette base to form a delicious dish. Although I was very full very quickly I really did enjoy this dish. They do a lot of different egg dishes and burgers etc. and it all seems relatively healthy so I would definitely recommend this.

DALUMA

This was a place full of health and organic products. I thought it looked amazing on Instagram and saw a few bloggers also recommend this. This café is set out so pretty with window sill seating. We both opted for our very first acai bowl which tasted and looked delicious. They also had plenty of choices on the menu – all healthy of course. This café was still central but a little bit harder to locate so I would definitely recommend using maps for this one.

Madami – Mom’s Vietnamese Kitchen

I haven’t really tried Vietnamese food before but this place has made me want to eat it over and over again. This was again pretty central and very near Alexanderplatz. For starters we have some Vietnamese rolls with duck which were full of salad and goodness. For my main, I had king prawns with rice in a sweet and sour mango sauce. This tasted absolutely incredible – the portions were pretty big though so I wouldn’t really recommend getting a starter as well unless you’re feeling super hungry.

Burgermeister

This burger place is very much hyped about and I can totally see why. It actually used to be an old train station bathroom so it’s rather small with a standing area inside and a very limited amount seats on the outside. There was quite a large queue waiting to order but once you have ordered it doesn’t take long at all for your food to arrive. I went for a classic cheeseburger and we shared a portion of chips. The burger was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted & I have pretty much had a burger in every food place that you can name. Although this place is a little off route I would definitely say it’s worth a visit if you have a spare couple of hours.

Neni/Monkey Bar

This place was actually recommended by a friend. The restaurant and bar are separate but are located opposite each other on the top floor of a rather querky hotel. As we were a little early for our reservation at the Neni we decided to go for drinks at the Monkey Bar beforehand. The cocktails were a little expensive – the cheapest was $12 however, the views were worth it. We sat outside on the roof top terrace where we were able to overlook the Kaiser Wilhelm church and the Christmas Market. Blankets were provided and the view was something quite special.

At Neni, we were served pretty quickly and the food came out even quicker. I ordered meatballs and veg which were pretty tasty. My boyfriend ordered crispy coated chicken and sweet potato fries which we were less impressed with as it literally came as a big heap on his plate. The restaurant was also pretty expensive. I would say the Monkey Bar is definitely worth a visit though, for beautiful views and nice drinks.

Christmas Market Food

We were lucky enough to come at a time when Christmas markets are at large and all the food there looked amazing so some lunch times and evenings we ate at the Christmas markets. We had a lot of sausages which ranged in sizes and flavours but all in all, tasted incredible. Another thing we fell in love with was currywurst – a mixture of a tomato sauce and curry powder mixed in with sausage and with a side dish of potatoes. If I could have that everyday I totally would. The mulled wine also tasted so delicious, I averaged on about two cups an evening because it was that tasty. Pancakes and coated nuts were other highlights of the market.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I will also be doing a post on attractions & Christmas markets to visit which I will link below. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions!
